FAQS
Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?
Weather permitting the wedding ceremony will be outdoors on the Castle grounds. In the event of rain the ceromeny will be held inside the Castle.
Is there a gift registry?
No, having our closest family & friends making the trip to Ireland to celebrate our special day is the greatest gift we could ask for.
What is the dress code?
Our wedding will have a formal dress code. We encourage guests to dress elegantly for the occasion while remaining comfortable for an outside ceremony and reception. The average temperature in Ireland in late September is 15 to 17°C. Comfortable shoes are worth considering given the grounds are grass and gravel. Ties and pocket squares will be provided for the groomsmen who we ask wear black suits.
Will there be a dress rehearsal?
No, we are overly confident.
Can I take photos during the ceremony?
We kindly ask guests to refrain from taking photos during the ceremony so everyone can remain fully present. Plenty of time for photos will be available afterward.
How do I rsvp?
Given the size of our wedding we have informally confirmed attendance with all of our guests but we still ask that you complete this RSVP form by September 10th to choose your menu selections.
Where is the wedding?
Our wedding ceremony and reception will be held at Huntington Castle and Gardens in Carlow, Ireland. The Castle is located 90 minutes from Dublin Airport.
Will transportation be provided?
We ask that guests arrange their own transportation to and from Huntington Castle. All wedding events are located at the Castle except for Osborne's pub which is in walking distance.
Where should I stay?
Guests are invited to stay with us, free of charge, in one of the Castle's three cottages located on the Castle grounds.
As the wedding approaches, we will reach out to guests to assign rooms. If you would prefer more private accommodations off the Castle grounds, there are several local options available:
General Advice Travel Advice
-
Standard electrical outlets are banned in Irish bathrooms due to strict safety rules. If you use hot tools on your hair we'd recommend packing a travel mirror for use outside the bathroom.
-
Homes in Ireland use 230 V (50 Hz) compared to Canada's 120 V (60 Hz). If you plan on bringing larger electrical devices such as hair irons, hair dryers, or clothing steamers please make sure they are dual voltage to avoid damaging them. Irish electrical outlets support a type-G plug, we recommend bringing an adaptor.
-
When traveling with precription pain or stimulant medication keep medication in their original packaging. Ireland is not a strict country but we recommend bringing a doctor's letter for these types of medication.
-
Paracetamol and Ibuprofen are not known as Tylenol and Advil in Europe. Instead ask for Panadol and Nurofen.
-
If you plan on visiting Northern Ireland (UK) as part of your trip you will need a Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) see Electronic Travel Authorization for travel to the UK for details.
-
The majority of shops in Ireland support most major credit cards just be aware of the conversion internation rates (as set by your bank).
-
Driving in Ireland is generally considered safe with well paved roads, clear signage, and good drivers. However, be advised that you should be comfortable driving on the left-side of the road, using roundabouts, and handling one-lane two-way roads (see here for more details).
